Musicals in London

Two of the three longest-running musicals in West End history are still playing here tonight, ten minutes' walk apart. Les Misérables opened in October 1985 and has not stopped; The Phantom of the Opera opened thirteen months later and has not stopped either. Between them they have been on sale in this city for longer than most of the people queueing have been alive.

Neither is a limited season, and nor is Paddington The Musical, which opened at the Savoy in November 2025 and took seven Olivier Awards in its first year. That changes how you book. A touring stop gives you five nights and then leaves; these publish a booking horizon instead — October 2027 for Les Misérables, March 2027 for Phantom — and extend it as it comes near. The question is not whether you can still get in, it is which evening.

Into the Woods plays the Noël Coward and Jesus Christ Superstar, with Sam Ryder and a rota of guest Herods, plays Drury Lane, both until 9 January 2027. Rent runs at the newly renamed Tom Stoppard Theatre to 29 May; Pride arrives at the Bridge on 12 November and One Day at the Garrick on 17 November.
