The production, the theatre and the Herods
This is the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production, directed by Timothy Sheader with choreography by Drew McOnie and design by Tom Scutt. It played the London Palladium from 20 June to 5 September 2026, and LW Theatres says it moved to Drury Lane rather than closing because of record demand for that season.
Sam Ryder came to it from Eurovision and the pop charts; Jesus at the Palladium was his first stage role, and he carries on in it here. Tyrone Huntley plays Judas, with Matty J as the alternate.
Herod gets a guest each week or two: Matt Bomer from 16 October, Rob Brydon from 2 November, Reece Shearsmith from 9 November, Bob The Drag Queen from 16 November, Michael Ball from 23 November, Simon Russell Beale from 7 December, Omid Djalili from 14 December, Layton Williams from 21 December and Glenn Close for the final week from 4 January. The producers say they cannot guarantee any particular performer.
