Woking Theatre (New Victoria)

1,300 seats

One of the largest receiving houses outside London, inside a complex that also holds the smaller Rhoda McGaw Theatre and a six-screen cinema. Chicago has played it before.

The building

The Royal Shakespeare Company, the National and the Peter Hall Company have all brought work here, and Glyndebourne on Tour, Scottish Ballet and Northern Ballet are regulars. Carmen Jones, Cats and Miss Saigon have played the main house.

The first three rows of the stalls — AA, BB and CC — come out when a show needs an orchestra pit, which is worth knowing if you are choosing seats for a musical.

Opening dates, capacities and architects on this page come from the theatre's own history pages and from Wikipedia.
