Hull New Theatre opened in 1939 as the permanent home the Hull Repertory Theatre Company had never had, and it closed in January 2016 for the largest rebuild of its life. The Royal Ballet reopened it on 16 September 2017, in the middle of Hull's year as UK City of Culture.

Hull Theatres sells both runs, and the Cats stop in October 2026 is one of the shortest on that tour: five nights.
