Rent
Jonathan Larson did not live to see Rent's first preview. He died suddenly in January 1996, aged thirty-five, on the morning of what was to be its first performance off-Broadway; the show went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and four Tony Awards, and to run twelve years on Broadway.
