The Lost Boys
The film it comes from was a joke about its own genre. The Lost Boys arrived in 1987 as a comedy horror about teenage vampires on a Californian boardwalk, made money, and became the sort of cult object that gets quoted rather than revived. Turning it into a Broadway musical was not an obvious idea, and the production that did it won four Tony Awards in its first season.

Two of them were for the cast: Ali Louis Bourzgui for the vampire who does the recruiting, and Shoshana Bean for the mother who has no idea any of this is happening. The other two were for how it looks — Dane Laffrey's set and the lighting by Jen Schriever and the production's director, Michael Arden.
