The Liverpool Empire on Lime Street has the largest two-tier auditorium in the United Kingdom — 2,348 seats stacked over one balcony rather than three or four — and it is the second theatre to stand on the corner: the first opened in 1866 and came down in 1924 to make room for it.
Both runs here are sold by ATG rather than by the building, which is the usual arrangement for this house.
