The Fantasticks
It has been running, somewhere, since 1960, and it has never played Broadway. The Fantasticks spent forty-two years off-Broadway at the Sullivan Street Playhouse — the longest run of any musical anywhere — and its Broadway debut is on 22 October 2026, sixty-six years after it opened.

The house it debuts in is the smallest on the street: the Hayes, 597 seats, roughly the scale the show has always been played at. That is not a demotion but a fit.
This production reimagines the central couple, traditionally Matt and Luisa, as Matt and Lewis, and turns the two scheming fathers into mothers. Christopher Gattelli directs and choreographs; the book and lyrics by Tom Jones and the music by Harvey Schmidt are revised rather than replaced.
